Mr. Anderson: I commend you for your talent in drawing and humor. Morever, I very much appreciate your dedicated service in the military and then as a law enforcement officer. I believe your career as a published cartoonist will be as long and as successful. We were up till the wee hours laughling at the cartoons. Your book brought back memories of patrol. Congratulations on publishing this unique tribute to the "Training Officer". It's given me some good laughs. Eileen Kelly

DEDICATION
As this cartoon book was being printed the editor requested I submit a Dedication page. I thought it would be nice to honor all the great men & women I had worked with while with the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department. I said I honored all those who wore the star and those who are now wearing the star.
After the first batch of books were released to various law enforcement agencies across the country, I began getting calls from different agencies saying these cartoons depict exactly what happened to them as trainees and training officers.
I began to rethink my dedication that perhaps I should dedicate the cartoon book to all the law enforcement agencies?
No matter if you wore a star, a badge or a shield, no matter if you were a city policeman, a county sheriff , highway patrolman, state trooper or security guard, we all become brothers with one objective.
While I was in the Sheriff Academy back in the stone age, the instructors gave us a problem to kill time one afternoon. We were to assume that we were sculptors and just created a monument to law enforcement. What inscription would you chisel on the base?
Now I have never been a philosopher and I have never been the brightest bulb in the marque.....But this is what I came up with and it remains inside the front cover of my class notebook. (Class 65...1957) I never found out what grade they gave me, but I didn't have to do any push-ups. I thought it was pretty neat...and I still do to this day.
AS LONG AS WE HAVE A CIVILIZED SOCIETY, WE WILL HAVE INDIVIDUALS WHO WILL DEDICATE THEIR LIVES TO ENFORCE THE LAWS WHICH THAT SOCIETY MAKES. AND WHEN THESE INDIVIDUALS EXIST NO MORE, THEN NEITHER DOES OUR HUMAN RACE.
